John and Di

They know they make a real difference

John and Di have been fostering with New Routes for over 10 years - and during that time they have fostered a lot of young people. They have helped them to trust people, achieve better results in school and college, re-establish positive links with their families, and to enjoy life.

As a black family - they offer a particularly valuable service to black children and young people, providing positive role models and enabling their young people to develop a positive identity, and to feel good about who they are.

It can be demanding - and it is certainly challenging at times. That’s why the training, support and guidance offered by our social workers is so important.

If you asked John and Di why they do it - they will tell you that it is because they care deeply about the future of the children and young people in their care.
